This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.
• Spearhead the comprehensive architecture for data platforms and pipelines, encompassing scraping, data extraction, transformation, storage, serving, and ML/LLM integration, while balancing performance, reliability, security, and cost.
• Gradually enhance pipelines and systems by designing safe rollout strategies and establishing key data-quality metrics to accommodate customer and traffic growth without disrupting production.
• Convert business objectives into practical data products by evaluating high-level requirements, defining clear problem areas, drafting precise RFCs, and organizing work into deliverable projects for the team.
• Set and uphold engineering standards, including testing strategies, evaluations, observability, data contracts, and security practices across services. Consider both short-term and long-term goals to devise rapid go-to-market products while planning for future productization.
• Elevate the organization by leading architecture reviews, formalizing patterns, mentoring Senior Engineers, and amplifying impact through documentation, code reviews, and collaborative coding.
• Startup-ready mindset: adaptable, comfortable with uncertainty and continuous change; proactive about processes, documentation, and reliability without unnecessary complexity.
• Facilitate collaboration and define the interaction between AI engineers and software engineers, devops, product managers, and designers, in order to conceptualize and develop innovative and impactful solutions. Provide guidance to junior team members and foster a culture of collaboration and creativity.
• Deliver meaningful experiments by prototyping data/ML capabilities, assessing feasibility and ROI, and making informed decisions regarding productionalizing with a focus on operating costs and risk.
• Over 8 years of experience in building and managing production data systems, including leading cross-functional architectural changes and deploying LLMs in real-world scenarios at scale.
• In-depth expertise in Python and contemporary service architectures; solid foundation in system design and data modeling.
• Extensive background in training and deploying machine learning models, particularly in the NLP/LLM domain. Proficient in Python and familiar with infrastructure as code, CI/CD, and cloud infrastructure.
• Proficient in operational maturity concepts such as SLOs, on-call/incident practices, and observability.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on action and results. Experienced in data preprocessing, feature engineering, and model evaluation techniques.
• Exceptional communication abilities, capable of articulating complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Proven leadership experience with the capacity to guide and motivate a team.
