Staff AI Architect

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Lead the technical vision and architectural strategy for Experian’s cloud-native platform and agentic AI functionalities.

• Manage and evolve comprehensive architectural blueprints for AWS cloud-native applications, covering compute, data, networking, security, and observability.

• Define and advocate for agentic AI architecture patterns, standards, and reusable reference architectures.

• Establish and oversee DevOps standards, including CI/CD, GitOps, deployment strategies, environment parity, and release engineering.

• Design and manage platform infrastructure, including ECS, EKS, service mesh, API gateways, secrets management, IAM/RBAC, data stores, and multi-account/multi-region AWS topology.

• Lead architecture reviews and make decisive technical decisions for high-risk changes.

• Define SLOs, SLIs, error budgets, logging, distributed tracing, capacity planning, and incident response frameworks.

• Introduce new technologies through proof-of-concept initiatives and risk assessment processes.

• Build internal communities of practice around architectural patterns.

• Produce ADRs, system context diagrams, threat models, and runbooks as authoritative sources of truth.

• Advise Product and Partners by interpreting architectural constraints and capabilities into strategic options.

• Mentor staff and senior engineers while conducting design reviews.

⛳️ Requirements

• B.S. or M.S. degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related field.

• Over 8 years of experience in software engineering and systems architecture.

• At least 3 years in a dedicated architect or principal engineer position.

• More than 5 years of AWS architecture experience at scale.

• Familiarity with multi-account AWS organization design, landing zones/Control Tower, VPC design, IAM governance, and cost optimization.

• Proven experience in architecting highly available distributed systems with low latency and elastic scalability.

• Experience in designing agentic AI architectures, including orchestration layers, agent frameworks, tool/API integration, evaluation pipelines, and operational monitoring.

• Expertise in Kubernetes (EKS), Terraform/CDK, Helm, ArgoCD/Flux, CI/CD tools, and container security.

• Proficiency with REST, gRPC, and asynchronous event-driven API gateway patterns.

• Experience in establishing SRE practices, including SLOs, error budgets, runbooks, chaos engineering, and game days.

• Knowledge of zero-trust networking, secrets management, SIEM integration, and SOC 2/ISO 27001 compliance frameworks.

• Familiarity with Kafka, Kinesis, data lakes, OLAP/OLTP boundary design, ElastiCache, and Redis.

• Experience in presenting C4 diagrams, sequence diagrams, threat models, ADRs, and runbooks.

• Proven track record of scaling engineering organizations through architecture standards, platform investment, and improvements in internal developer experience.
