This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take charge of daily bookkeeping and ensure financial records are accurate and up-to-date.
• Assist with the month-end closing process, which includes journal entries, account reconciliations, and reviewing balance sheet and income statement accounts.
• Oversee accounts payable tasks, such as reviewing, coding, and processing vendor invoices while guaranteeing timely and precise payments.
• Aid in accounts receivable functions by recording incoming payments, tracking outstanding balances, and reconciling cash receipts.
• Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, merchant accounts, and other balance sheet accounts.
• Document and manage accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, depreciation, and adjusting or reclassification entries.
• Keep track of cash flow and ensure that cash activities are accurately reflected in the general ledger.
• Handle employee expense reports and reimbursements.
• Examine transactions for appropriate general ledger and departmental coding, correcting any discrepancies.
• Maintain supporting documentation for all accounting transactions and financial records.
• Assist with payroll-related accounting entries and reconciliations.
• Support sales tax filings, reconciliations, and compliance-related accounting activities.
• Prepare schedules and documentation for external accountants, auditors, and tax providers.
• Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies, communicating issues to relevant stakeholders.
• Enhance bookkeeping and accounting processes, controls, and documentation.
• Collaborate with the Finance team on various accounting projects and operational requirements.
• Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in accounting and/or bookkeeping.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
• Solid understanding of accounting principles, including debits and credits, journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and the general ledger.
• Practical experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank and credit card reconciliations, and month-end closing procedures.
• Proficient in Excel or Google Sheets.
• Familiarity with accounting or ERP systems.
• Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
• Strong organizational abilities to manage recurring tasks and multiple deadlines effectively.
• Capacity to work independently and take full ownership of projects from inception to completion.
• Ability to identify discrepancies and pursue resolutions until they are resolved.
