Staff Accountant

📋 Description

• Support the monthly and annual accounting closing processes across various financial domains, which includes the preparation of journal entries and the reconciliation of general ledger account balances to ensure precision.

• Handle the reconciliation and processing of all inventory invoices and wire transfers.

• Oversee inventory reconciliations and cost accounting for inventory by season, ensuring accurate tracking and forecasting as invoices are processed and inventory is received.

• Reconcile monthly sales tax obligations and assist in the preparation of sales tax returns along with other compliance requirements related to sales tax regulations.

• Manage lease accounting in accordance with ASC 842 and prepare the necessary monthly adjusting journal entries.

• Monitor and reconcile the company’s fixed assets, managing the depreciation schedule accordingly.

• Track and account for intangible assets, such as trademark expenses, and periodically assess eligible costs for capitalization.

• Reconcile the inventory units available monthly and notify the operations team of any discrepancies for further action.

• Investigate variances in customer deposits between the e-commerce platform and accounting system monthly, making adjusting journal entries to resolve any discrepancies.

• Review inventory modifications and assist retail teams during regular physical inventory counts.

• Ensure compliance with weekly and monthly debt obligations and provide necessary information to the company’s financial lenders.

• Maintain adherence to business license registration and renewal processes, along with personal property tax filings.

• Analyze financial and accounting data to offer insights that enhance business operations.

• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including operations, logistics, technology, and marketing, to ensure precise accounting and financial reporting.

• Assist with both internal and external audits by supplying requested financial documentation and reports.

• Identify opportunities for enhancing accounting processes and automation within the organization’s ERP and accounting systems.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.

• Over 2 years of accounting experience, ideally within e-commerce, retail, manufacturing, or a fast-paced setting.

• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Xero, or similar ERP systems).

• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting guidelines.

• Advanced skills in Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis, macros, power query).

• Experience with e-commerce platforms (Shopify, Amazon, Avalara, etc.) is advantageous.

• Familiarity with sales tax compliance, inventory accounting, and cost accounting is preferred.

• Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and manage workload, with a keen attention to detail, problem-solving capabilities, and the ability to meet deadlines.

• Comfortable utilizing AI and recognizing opportunities to enhance existing processes through these tools.
