This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North America.
• Ensure the precision, completeness, and promptness of financial information processing and reporting for both internal and external stakeholders.
• Assist in all month-end closing activities, payroll accounting, grant reporting, and the preparation of accurate and reliable financial statements, along with annual audit preparation and special projects as necessary.
• Execute, review, and analyze a wide range of complex accounting and fiscal activities to guarantee compliance with organizational policies and appropriate accounting practices.
• Maintain robust accounts payable processes, ensuring the timely and precise processing of payments.
• Record payroll and benefits-related journal entries accurately and promptly.
• Prepare and reconcile invoices from clients and vendors.
• Conduct month-end journal entries, account reconciliations, and accruals as required.
• Support the annual independent audit, single audit, and Form 990 by preparing schedules and reviewing working papers.
• Develop and generate various reports to satisfy internal and external requirements, ensuring accuracy and adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
• Prepare monthly financial reports for the Board, including footnotes to clarify variances.
• Assist with budget formulation, cash flow forecasting, and analysis.
• Support grant reporting, administration, and compliance efforts.
• Maintain a consistent state of audit readiness through accurate coding, tagging, and reporting.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration.
• A minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience.
• At least 3 years of nonprofit accounting experience in an educational setting (strongly preferred).
• Experience with federal grant accounting.
• Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Proficiency in QuickBooks and Bill.com (required).
• Competence in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office.
• Highly organized, with the capability to manage multiple projects and adapt priorities effectively.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality as necessary and appropriate.
