This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Accountable for managing financial activities, ensuring accurate and prompt financial record-keeping, and maintaining compliance with accounting standards and industry best practices.
• Proficient in financial reporting, strategic governance, management accounting, internal controls, taxation, and finance operations.
• Assists the Sr. Manager, Accounting with daily tasks and projects, providing support to the Accounting team and other departments.
• Prepares and/or reviews general journal entries for all entities.
• Prepares and reviews all management-level reports (including product line, executive, and departmental) with detailed variance analysis (primarily on expenses) as necessary.
• Evaluates and implements suitable accounting policies and procedures to fulfill financial reporting requirements.
• Prepares and updates account reconciliation files on a scheduled basis to ensure financial record accuracy and conducts appropriate balance sheet analysis.
• Identifies and resolves discrepancies within financial statements.
• Engages with internal and external stakeholders to ensure outstanding balances are resolved correctly.
• Prepares timely and accurate entries related to payroll transactions.
• Collaborates with tax professionals to prepare and file tax returns by supplying data and responses promptly.
• Evaluates tax obligations for all entities to ensure compliance with regulations and the implementation of best practices.
• Documents and, when necessary, develops and maintains departmental processes and procedures for up-to-date detailed work instructions.
• Identifies operational risks and enforces internal controls to mitigate risks in alignment with the organization’s strategy, mission, vision, and values.
• Works alongside the Sr. Manager, Accounting to identify and prioritize projects, develop a work plan, and monitor progress until completion.
• Collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to provide financial support and insights.
• Partners with other accounting and finance professionals to sustain consistency and adopt best practices.
• Supports various special projects from inception to implementation, including software rollouts and analytical support for product lines as needed.
• A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree (preferably in Accounting or Finance) and 4-6 years of progressive experience in Accounting.
• Preference for a specialization in Accounting or Finance, with a CPA designation being advantageous.
• Global accounting and taxation experience is preferred.
• In-depth knowledge of GAAP and ASPE standards.
• Familiarity with tax authorities.
• Strong business acumen.
• Excellent communication abilities.
• Proficient in project management.
• Knowledge of change management principles.
• Technical experience with ERP systems and related accounting systems that integrate with ERP solutions.
• Technical skills include proficiency in Excel and the ability to utilize Excel tools/other systems to generate necessary reports.
• Strong problem-solving capabilities with a critical and creative thinking approach.
• Demonstrated initiative and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
