This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado, +2 more states.
• Support the periodic month-end and year-end accounting closing activities across various financial sectors, which includes crafting journal entries and reconciling general ledger account balances to ensure precision.
• Process and reconcile all inventory invoices and wire payments.
• Oversee inventory reconciliations and seasonal inventory cost accounting to ensure accurate tracking and forecasting as invoices are received and inventory is delivered.
• Monthly reconciliation of sales taxes owed and assistance in preparing sales tax filings along with compliance with other regulatory sales tax obligations.
• Ensure correct lease accounting in accordance with ASC 842 and prepare necessary monthly adjusting journal entries.
• Monitor and reconcile the company’s fixed assets while managing the depreciation schedule.
• Account for the company’s intangible assets, such as trademark expenses, and periodically assess costs that are eligible for capitalization.
• Conduct monthly reconciliations of inventory units on hand and relay any discrepancies to the operations team for resolution.
• Examine customer deposit variances between the e-commerce system and accounting software monthly, posting adjusting journal entries to rectify any discrepancies.
• Review inventory adjustments and assist retail teams during regular physical inventory counts.
• Facilitate the weekly and monthly debt compliance processes, providing any requested information to the company’s lenders.
• Ensure adherence to the company’s business license registration and renewal obligations, as well as personal property tax filings.
• Analyze financial and accounting data, offering insights aimed at enhancing business operations.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including operations, logistics, technology, and marketing, to support accurate accounting and financial reporting.
• Aid in internal and external audits by supplying necessary financial documentation and reports.
• Identify and recommend improvements for accounting processes and automation within the company’s ERP and accounting systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• At least 2 years of accounting experience, ideally in e-commerce, retail, manufacturing, or a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Xero, or similar ERP systems).
• Strong grasp of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting standards.
• Advanced skills in Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis, macros, power query).
• Familiarity with e-commerce platforms (Shopify, Amazon, Avalara, etc.) is advantageous.
• Preferred knowledge of sales tax compliance, inventory accounting, and cost accounting.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and manage workload, with a keen attention to detail, problem-solving capabilities, and the ability to meet deadlines.
• Comfort using AI tools and identifying opportunities to enhance existing processes.
