Staff Accountant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Oversee daily accounting functions, which include managing payables, customer invoicing, cash transactions, payroll processing, and addressing inquiries.

• Prepare and record journal entries for monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing activities.

• Reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and resolve any discrepancies.

• Accurately process multi-state payroll in a timely manner, address discrepancies, and ensure adherence to relevant tax and labor regulations.

• Assist in the preparation of financial statements and management reports.

• Contribute to audit preparations, both internal and external, by supplying necessary documentation.

• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to advance company-wide initiatives and projects.

• Aid in the preparation of sales and use tax filings/software (Avalara or Sovos).

• Demonstrate the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while adapting to new and unique accounting demands.

⛳️ Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline is required.

• A minimum of 2 years of general accounting experience, showcasing a history of excellence and promotions.

• Experience in a fast-paced startup environment and/or within the healthcare technology sector, Pharmacy Benefit Management, or Big4 public accounting is advantageous.

• Solid understanding and experience in financial reporting, month-end closing processes, and audit support.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced capabilities such as pivot tables and VLOOKUPs.

• Strong analytical abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and a systematic approach to troubleshooting and problem-solving.

• A commitment to delivering high-quality internal service with a focus on customer satisfaction.

• CPA certification or progress toward achieving it is a plus.
