This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Manage relationships with third-party tax entities and oversee tax software.
• Supervise Avalara operations, including product mapping, active jurisdictions, and ensuring timely sales tax submissions across various states.
• Collaborate with Legal and HR/Payroll to handle tax registrations and license renewals.
• Monitor and respond to notifications regarding sales, use, property, and corporate income taxes.
• Provide data necessary for tax provisions, corporate financial statement allocations, FIRPTA and Anti-Trust compliance, as well as Canadian SR&ED and/or E-biz credit applications.
• Submit corporate income tax extensions, estimated payments, and annual filings.
• Coordinate filings for VAT, GST, HST, and QST with third-party entities.
• Oversee the tax email inbox and manage correspondence.
• Partner with the Billing department to address customer inquiries and resolve issues.
• Collaborate with Accounting on property tax returns, declarations, and associated payments.
• Manage tax portal logins and credentials in conjunction with AP and Payroll.
• Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliation workpapers.
• File specialty state returns, such as franchise tax returns and Ohio CAT, as necessary.
• Prepare supporting schedules for financial statements.
• Supervise projects involving third-party tax partners, which include handling notices, audits, and nexus assessments.
• Execute ad hoc finance projects and conduct research.
• Assist the accounting team with reporting and closing activities.
• A Bachelor’s degree is highly preferred.
• 2–5 years of experience in corporate income and sales & use tax.
• Intermediate proficiency in Excel.
• Ability to identify and implement procedural enhancements.
• Strong work ethic and a commitment to exceeding expectations, particularly during financial close, audits, or tax season.

• Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.
• Self-motivated and quick learner.
• Detail-oriented approach.
• Capacity to collaborate effectively and work independently with minimal supervision.
• Skills in time and project management, including planning, prioritization, organization, and multitasking.
• Familiarity with Avalara or similar sales tax software, with day-to-day management of the software package.
• Experience using Intacct.
• Understanding of SaaS subscription-based business models.
• Working knowledge of SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, and Office 365.
• Experience dealing with foreign currency.
• Experience with VAT, HST/GST/QST, Canadian E-Business, and/or R&D tax credit programs is highly desirable.
