Staff Accountant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Prepare journal entries and conduct monthly account reconciliations concerning cash, revenue, accounts receivable, and other general ledger accounts.

• Engage in the onboarding process for new retail customers while nurturing existing relationships.

• Review and authorize both domestic and international retail invoices; post related payments and credit memos on a daily basis.

• Prepare accounts receivable reconciliations on a weekly basis as well as at month-end.

• Assist in forecasting cash flow specific to the retail revenue channel.

• Maintain and document contra revenue and expense accruals.

• Generate analyses pertinent to the month-end close and year-end financial statements.

• Contribute to initiatives within the Accounting team aimed at system implementation, increased automation, and improved efficiencies.

• Facilitate communication between the Retail team and Accounting, including direct interaction with the VP of Retail.

• Aid in the review of new customer retail agreements by summarizing key terms and identifying possible accounting considerations.

• Support quarterly and annual audits, along with special projects as needed.

• Assist in the development and maintenance of processes, procedures, and internal controls.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is essential.

• CPA certification and/or public accounting experience is a plus.

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in general accounting.

• Comfortable working within a repetitive process, ensuring both accuracy and efficiency in a remote setting.

• Ability to work during Pacific Time Zone hours.

• Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred).

• Familiarity with SPS Commerce is preferred.

• Basic understanding of GAAP principles, including concepts related to accrual accounting.

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel.

• Possess an analytical, data-driven mindset capable of applying strategic thinking to problem-solving and advancing company goals and outcomes.

• Skillfully manage multiple priorities and deadlines concurrently to work efficiently and avoid last-minute rushes.

• Confidently lead meetings of varying sizes and stakes, establishing clear agendas and ensuring outcomes translate into actionable next steps.

• Methodically review work, cross-checking figures and logic to minimize rework and errors downstream.
