Splunk Security Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Design, manage, and sustain Splunk instances for both clients and internal operations.

• Assess applications within client environments and prioritize critical data sources based on their security significance and license implications.

• Offer expertise on which logs and events to gather from devices for security objectives.

• Identify the most effective log-collection techniques and support clients in forwarding security logs to the designated SIEM platform.

• Engage in weekly internal and client-facing project meetings.

• Collaborate closely with the Project Coordinator to ensure projects remain on schedule and essential tasks are completed promptly.

• Participate in a weekly rotating on-call schedule.

• Undertake other responsibilities assigned by the direct supervisor.

⛳️ Requirements

• Practical experience in managing, configuring, and deploying Splunk within a professional setting.

• Strong and verifiable knowledge across various domains of information security and their best practices.

• Current understanding of threats and methods for their detection would be advantageous.

• A solid foundation in IT knowledge.

• Familiarity with system administration on Windows and various networking technologies.

• Experience with query languages, ideally KQL.

• Significant experience with PowerShell and other scripting languages.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
