• Expands the specialty pharmacy's patient base by implementing Shields’ programs.
• Addresses insurance-related concerns and conducts benefit investigations.
• Assesses patients’ financial assistance requirements and secures support when necessary.
• Records patient information within the hospital EMR and additional required tools.
• Ensures patients adhere to their medication regimens.
• Obtains prescription renewals and helps patients understand their medications.
• Identifies medications that require special storage and handling protocols.
• Responds to, resolves, and triages incoming inquiries.
• Meets operational goals by entering data and developing follow-up action plans.
• Actively engages in initiatives aimed at process improvement.
• Safeguards the organization’s value by maintaining confidentiality of information.
• Enhances knowledge through educational opportunities and professional literature.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.
• Minimum 2-3 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician is required; 3-5 years is preferred.
• High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.
• State registration as a pharmacy technician is preferred.
• National certification as a CPhT or an equivalent is highly preferred but not mandatory.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills are essential.
• Outstanding phone communication abilities.
• Comfortable with proactively engaging patients over the phone.
• Able to effectively reach out to on-site clinicians, payors, and pharmacies via telephone.
• Highly skilled in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
• Capable of quickly learning new programs and adapting to Shields’ specific model and tools.
• Strong organizational skills are a must.
