Specialty Care Data Management and Analytics Support Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Access, query, and extract information from VHA enterprise systems and files such as CDW, VistA, VSSC, RAMP, PTF (MedSAS), MCA System, PCMM, NPCD, and the VETSNET Corporate Mini Master File to facilitate programmatic reporting and analysis.

• Develop and implement sophisticated computerized models and algorithms to identify, extrapolate, and validate data patterns that assist in decision-making for the Specialty Care Program Office and future business trend forecasting.

• Create and deliver clear, precise data visualizations including graphs, charts, dashboards, and summary reports that convert complex mathematical and statistical information into accessible formats for program managers and leadership.

• Present analytical insights and data-driven recommendations to program managers and senior stakeholders, advising on optimal adjustments to business models and operational strategies to achieve positive programmatic outcomes.

• Maintain data integrity, consistency, and accuracy across various VHA data sources by conducting routine data validation, reconciliation, and quality assurance reviews to support ongoing and ad hoc reporting needs.

• Collaborate with staff from the VHA Specialty Care Program Office and other stakeholders to define data requirements, document analytical methodologies, and uphold standardized reporting processes in line with federal data governance and contracting standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 8 years of professional experience in data management, data analytics, or a related field, with proven expertise in supporting healthcare or federal government programs, ideally within the VA.

• A Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) in Data Science, Health Informatics, Statistics, Computer Science, Public Health, or a related discipline is mandatory.

• Extensive, hands-on knowledge of VHA enterprise systems and files including CDW, VistA, VSSC, RAMP, PTF (MedSAS), MCA System, PCMM, NPCD, and the VETSNET Corporate Mini Master File is essential.

• Ability to obtain and maintain a VA Personal Identity Verification (PIV) credential and comply with all VA information security, privacy, and system access requirements, including completing necessary VA cybersecurity training.

• Must be a U.S. Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident authorized to work in the United States; the ability to pass a federal background investigation is required.

• Proven proficiency in developing advanced data models, applying statistical algorithms, and presenting data-driven business insights to non-technical audiences in a clear and actionable manner.

• Prior experience in supporting a VHA Program Office, VISN, or VA Medical Center in an analytical or reporting role.

• Proficiency in SQL, SAS, Python, R, or similar data query and statistical tools utilized within the VA data ecosystem.

• Familiarity with VA/VHA data governance frameworks, privacy regulations (HIPAA, VA Handbook 6500), and federal records management requirements.

• Experience with business intelligence platforms such as Tableau, Power BI, or the VHA VSSC reporting environment for developing dashboards and executive-level reports.

• Understanding of VHA Specialty Care service lines, clinical program structures, or healthcare operations that aids in the contextual interpretation of VHA data outputs.
