This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.
• Deliver designated course material in an online setting.
• Offer instruction, assistance, and guidance tailored to meet the individual needs outlined in students’ IEPs.
• Ensure that special education services and related support are provided as specified by the IEP team.
• Communicate with parents and related service personnel about student therapies.
• Create compliant IEPs, progress reports, and necessary documentation for special education.
• Facilitate and lead collaborative meetings for special education, including annual IEP meetings.
• Implement accommodations and modifications, incorporating assistive technology, supplemental curriculum, and accessible text.
• Adjust Stride K12 lessons and assessments in accordance with IEP requirements.
• Promote inclusion and success within the general education classroom.
• Gather data and work samples to assess IEP progress.
• Keep records of parent interactions and student interventions.
• Analyze student data to recommend remediation and enrichment strategies.
• Provide both synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences.
• Maintain the grade book and make decisions regarding student placement and promotion.
• Prepare students for high-stakes standardized testing.
• Foster positive relationships with families and respond promptly to students and parents/learning coaches.
• Assist parents/learning coaches with curricular, instructional, and basic virtual classroom troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with fellow teachers to analyze student data and inform instructional strategies.
• Travel up to 20% for professional development, student assessments, and school obligations.
• Michigan Teaching Certification is required.
• Special Education endorsement is mandatory.
• Out-of-state applicants must obtain a Michigan teaching certificate.
• Bachelor’s degree is necessary.
• Must possess an active state teaching license.
• Capability to pass the required background check.
• Ability to work independently, generally 40+ hours per week.
• Must maintain a professional, distraction-free home office during working hours.
• Skill in collaborating with teachers to interpret and generate numeric, tabular, and graphic representations of student data.
• Proficiency in utilizing student data to guide instructional decisions.
• Open to regular coaching from administrators.
• Willingness to adapt to change to achieve excellent student outcomes.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• Must be able to work within the school’s defined schedule, typically 9–5 or 8–4.
• Experience with the designated age group, online or traditional teaching, technology support, and online learning platforms is preferred.
• Base salary approximately $51,000.
