This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Support educators in their teaching roles and various general duties, including organizing and offering tutorial assistance.
• Offer supplementary student support, encompassing accommodations and online assessments.
• Assist with data entry for students enrolling in the program or school.
• Facilitate the implementation of programs and help maintain efforts such as student transportation, guest speakers, career fairs, field trips, and more.
• Notify educators of student behavior concerns or other challenges related to the program.
• Help monitor and supervise students during assignments and tests.
• Carry out clerical tasks for teachers as required, including coordinating, scheduling, and participating in meetings upon request.
• Assist educators in reaching out to parents or adult students and help in obtaining necessary forms.
• Take part in Student Study Team or other meetings focused on student success.
• Support the educator in providing additional attention or collecting data for specific students.
• Show a willingness to learn and enhance expertise in relevant subject areas.
• Follow instructions for activities related to the creation and execution of student learning plans.
• Translate communications between students and teachers.
• For Sign Language Interpreters: Aid students in utilizing sign language or other non-verbal communication methods.
• Assist in teaching deaf and hard of hearing students, either individually or in small groups.
• Comply with attendance policies.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of at least two years of college (48 units), or an Associate degree (or higher) from an accredited state institution, or pass a local assessment of knowledge and skills in instructional assistance issued by an approved local education agency.
• Experience working with students.
• Experience with low-income and at-risk populations.
• Background in educating individuals with exceptional needs, particularly students who are deaf or hard of hearing, or in related Career Technical Education or Literacy content areas.
• Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Fluent in sign language, certified by the national Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or an equivalent; if providing Cued Speech interpretation, certification by any recognized body acknowledged by the National Cued Speech Association (NCSA) is required.
• Fluent in the specified language requirement or educational program, with the ability to read, write, and speak, as well as translate communications between students and teachers.
