SOX Automation Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Evaluate current SOX processes and pinpoint opportunities to minimize manual compliance tasks through automation.

• Create and uphold a comprehensive SOX automation architecture and implementation roadmap for the enterprise.

• Design, build, test, and deploy automation solutions using technologies such as Ansible, Chef, and others as suitable.

• Establish standardized SOX automation across various enterprise architectures, operating systems, applications, and infrastructure platforms.

• Streamline control execution, evidence collection, compliance validation, exception reporting, and remediation workflows through automation.

• Work in partnership with audit and compliance teams to ensure that automated solutions meet SOX control objectives and evidence requirements.

• Oversee and enhance the effectiveness, reliability, scalability, and maintainability of SOX automation solutions on a continuous basis.

• Act as a technical subject matter expert in the realm of SOX process automation.

• Spearhead automation initiatives from the initial assessment and architecture stages through to implementation, testing, and operational support.

⛳️ Requirements

• Profound understanding of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance requirements, specifically SOX Section 404 and IT General Controls (ITGCs).

• Significant experience with SOX processes, including access management, change management, configuration management, IT operations, and evidence collection.

• Proven ability to identify opportunities for automating manual SOX controls while ensuring compliance and audit readiness.

• Capacity to convert SOX control requirements into technical specifications and automated workflows.

• Experience collaborating with internal audit, external auditors, cybersecurity, and compliance teams.

• Capability to design and implement an enterprise-wide SOX automation strategy across a variety of technologies, platforms, and infrastructure environments.

• Proficient in assessing existing SOX processes, spotting automation opportunities, and crafting a thorough automation roadmap.

• Experience in designing scalable, reusable, and standardized automation frameworks.

• Ability to develop automation architectures that integrate enterprise systems, security controls, and compliance platforms.

• Strong grasp of risk-based automation methodologies.

• Skill in establishing automation standards, governance practices, and technical design principles.

• Extensive practical experience with Ansible, Chef, and other infrastructure automation technologies.

• Experience in creating automated workflows for SOX control execution, validation, monitoring, remediation, and evidence collection.

• Ability to produce reusable automation scripts, playbooks, cookbooks, and configuration management solutions.

• Experience in automating compliance processes across Windows, Linux, database infrastructure, and applications.

• Capability to develop automation solutions across diverse technology stacks and architectural environments.

• Ability to navigate architectural complexities, dependencies, and security requirements.

• Competence in ensuring that automated controls are secure, tested, documented, and auditable.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Experience working alongside enterprise architects, infrastructure engineers, cybersecurity teams, application owners, and audit professionals.

• Proficient in communicating strategies, designs, risks, and implementation plans to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Demonstrated capability to lead automation initiatives from initial assessment and architecture to implementation, testing, and operational support.
