Sovereign Debt Forum Research Assistant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Collect complete sovereign debt contracts

• Identify and label key clauses within sovereign debt contracts

• Research domestic borrowing frameworks across various jurisdictions

• Aid in the execution of subsequent phases of the #PDIP initiative

• Report directly to the SDF Co-Director, Head of Research, and SDF Fellow at the Law Center

• Collaborate remotely with a team of 2–5 other research assistants

• Contribute to the Sovereign Debt Forum’s open-source sovereign debt data repository and capacity-building platform

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree is mandatory

• JD, LLM, and/or other advanced training is highly preferred

• Strong preference for candidates with law practice and/or management experience

• Experience in contract analysis is required

• Familiarity with the legal systems of non-US jurisdictions is necessary

• Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills, along with excellent organizational abilities

• Collaborative mindset and capacity to adapt to the challenges of a dynamic start-up environment

• Knowledge of research processes and relevant research protocols

• Proven experience in planning and delivering work according to agreed timelines and quality standards

• Background in a research setting is advantageous

• Experience collaborating within a team to meet common goals or objectives

• Ability to maintain accurate and current records

• Capable of collating, managing, and utilizing datasets to generate, interpret, and present data reports and analyses

• Effective verbal communication abilities

• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel

• Advanced IT, numeracy, and analytical skills with a keen attention to detail and accuracy

• Willingness to work flexibly to address the needs of the research program

• Self-motivated and able to operate independently without close supervision
