This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take charge of comprehensive procurement and account management for third-party customers across various facilities, which includes sourcing new ingredients, forecasting demand, and negotiating costs.
• Serve as the primary representative for designated categories with major accounts, ensuring proactive communication and a top-notch client experience.
• Direct category sourcing for assigned Produce or Grocery categories, pinpointing new suppliers and innovative products to fulfill third-party requirements.
• Oversee short-term purchasing while crafting long-term strategies aimed at achieving sustainable business results.
• Collaborate with the 1st Party Misfits Merchandising team to negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers, ensuring a competitive edge and adherence to quality standards.
• Evaluate vendor performance (reliability, quality, compliance) and apply corrective measures when necessary.
• Formulate and implement contingency plans for disruptions in the supply chain, process difficulties, and quality concerns.
• Supervise a direct report (Buyer Analyst) tasked with demand planning and purchase order management; offer coaching, feedback, and opportunities for professional growth.
• Collaborate across Inventory Planning, Merchandising, Operations, and Transportation to synchronize demand forecasts with operational capabilities.
• Proactively facilitate solutions for cross-functional conflicts, ensuring the balance between business needs and customer commitments.
• 2–4 years of experience in Category Management and/or wholesale procurement and third-party account management.
• If working in Produce, experience in this area is required; overall food industry experience is preferred.
• Experience in eCommerce and digital platforms is preferred, along with Meal Kit experience.
• Bachelor's Degree and/or relevant experience combined with at least 3 years in the field.
• Exceptional interpersonal and negotiation skills.
• Strong grasp of financial principles, including forecasting and profitability analysis.
• Proficient in the MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Drive, Calendar).
• Familiarity with contract process management.
• Product Knowledge: extensive understanding of technical specifications and features of products within the category—such as nutritional standards for food and materials used in packaged goods.
• Industry Standards & Certifications: awareness of certifications like USDA Organic, Fair Trade, and relevant food safety regulations.
• Quality Control: technical know-how in product quality standards and processes (including shelf life, packaging durability, and food safety).
