Solutions Specialist – New Business Development

📋 Description

• Gain a comprehensive understanding of the services Summit offers to its customers.

• Reach out to customer accounts to market Summit's products and services.

• Travel regularly to customer locations and other relevant sites.

• Provide accurate and timely quotes while addressing customer requirements, issues, and inquiries.

• Collaborate effectively with customer service representatives to proactively follow up on customer orders, challenges, and needs.

• Address customer concerns and foster loyalty towards Summit in an efficient and effective manner.

• Work together with various departments on marketing, advertising, customer presentations, sales, promotions, and market/customer analysis.

• Analyze the changing needs of Summit’s customers and adjust sales strategies accordingly to maintain a competitive edge.

• Identify and assess opportunities to promote Summit’s solutions portfolio and enhance revenue.

• Utilize Summit’s existing solution portfolio to strengthen business relationships with current customers, increase market share, and enter new vertical segments.

• Explore opportunities for deploying new service offerings and sales tools.

• Organize and oversee customer events and facility tours, showcasing Summit’s capabilities, expertise, solutions, associates, and values to potential and existing clients.

• Build and manage relationships with internal and external customers, counterparts in related industries, and industry associations to adopt best practices that enhance Summit’s offerings.

• Negotiate favorable pricing with both customers and suppliers.

• Exercise discretion to determine specific customer pricing, procure materials tailored to customer orders, and uphold service standards.

• Assist in the collection of funds from accounts payable as needed.

• Collaborate with different departments to develop strategies that empower Summit’s sales force in effectively communicating the value of Summit’s portfolio or customer solutions.

• Oversee the successful implementation of existing sales solutions, measuring positive ROI for tools such as AMPS, Snapstock, SOS, Clearspyder, Wire and Cable Management, the AMPS customer portal, and C4C configuration and training.


⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of sales and negotiation experience with an electrical supply distributor, manufacturer, or representative agency.

• 5+ years of experience in the commercial or industrial business-to-business sector, with substantial exposure to Summit’s customers, suppliers, and markets.

• Proficient user of ERP systems (preferably SAP) and BI tools.

• Strong business acumen with the ability to engage effectively across diverse audiences and resolve complex business challenges.

• Familiarity with standard and industry-leading customer and supplier service offerings, pricing, rebate and incentive programs, and terms and conditions.

• Ability to establish and maintain a robust personal network of respected industry leaders and within Summit.

• Capability to leverage these relationships to achieve business objectives.

• Willingness to travel approximately 50% of the time to field locations, industry events, as well as vendor and customer offices.

• Excellent understanding of the local market and business opportunities.

• Strong analytical skills and experience in strategic planning.

• Strong customer service orientation.

• Effective time management skills with the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.

• Proficient in resolving complex business issues; able to be assertive yet diplomatic to achieve win-win outcomes.

• Adaptable and flexible in response to change.

• Clean driving record and current insurance required.

• Minimum educational requirement: high school diploma or equivalent.
