Solutions Architect – Standards

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Minnesota, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Act as a representative for 3M in various optical interconnect standards organizations, including IEEE, IEC, OIF, APC, EBO MSA, and others.

• Take the lead in drafting technical contributions, implementation agreements, and specifications within these standards organizations.

• Serve as an editor or contribute as a member of working groups.

• Convert standards activities and ecosystem directions into actionable insights for 3M's product and technology teams.

• Transform 3M's technical capabilities into proposals for standards.

• Establish technical partnerships with hyperscale data center clients, vendors, and MSA members.

• Create conceptual demonstrations and assist in technical marketing initiatives to highlight 3M EBO capabilities.

• Adhere to corporate policies, procedures, and security standards.

• Follow safety protocols, identify hazards, and engage in ongoing EHS improvements.

⛳️ Requirements

• A completed and verified Bachelor’s degree or higher prior to starting.

• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in optical interconnect, co-packaged optics (CPO), or data center connectivity technologies.

• Experience in participating in or contributing to industry standards organizations or multi-source agreements (e.g., OIF, IEC, IEEE, MSAs).

• Must possess legal authorization to work in the country of employment without the need for sponsorship for employment visa status.

• A Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical/Photonics Engineering, or a related technical discipline is considered an additional qualification.

• Direct experience as a contributor, editor, or chair within OIF, IEC, IEEE 802.3, or an optical connectivity MSA is an additional qualification.

• Proficient knowledge of expanded beam optics, fiber-optic connector and ferrule design, high-speed SerDes, and co-packaged/pluggable optical modules.

• Direct experience in system architecture and optical interconnect integration for AI/ML infrastructure.

• Excellent skills in technical communication, customer focus, self-initiation, relationship building, innovation, and collaboration.
