Solar Inverter Field Service Technician

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair utility-scale inverters (GE, Sungrow, Power Electronics)

• Provide advanced inverter testing and commissioning assistance

• Execute LOTO, insulation resistance (megger), IV curve tracing, and IR thermography

• Identify and address inverter faults, communication issues, and performance challenges

• Assist in preventative and corrective maintenance for inverter systems

• Collaborate closely with monitoring/SCADA teams to resolve system alerts

• Ensure compliance with OEM specifications and safety standards in all work

• Complete comprehensive service reports, logs, and documentation

• Maintain and operate company tools, testing equipment, and vehicles

• Aid in training junior technicians on inverter diagnostics and repairs

⛳️ Requirements

• 3-4+ years of practical experience with utility-scale solar inverters

• Direct experience with GE inverters, Sungrow inverters, and Power Electronics inverters

• Experience on megawatt-scale solar sites (ground-mount / solar farms)

• Strong comprehension of DC/AC power conversion, power electronics troubleshooting, inverter fault codes, and diagnostics

• Background in solar maintenance with an emphasis on inverter systems

• Familiarity with SCADA systems and inverter communications (preferred)

• Working knowledge of OSHA / NFPA 70E safety regulations

• Proficient in using multimeters, meggers, amp clamps, and other testing equipment

• Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office)
