This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.
• Plan, design, implement, and document software testing procedures for FDA applications and digital solutions.
• Analyze requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and design documentation to create test scenarios and test cases.
• Create, sustain, and execute both manual and automated test scripts for functional, integration, regression, system, and user acceptance testing.
• Verify application functionality against approved requirements and acceptance criteria.
• Identify, document, prioritize, and monitor defects until resolution using JIRA or other approved defect management tools.
• Conduct regression, smoke, sanity, browser, device, environment, performance, compatibility, accessibility, deployment, and post-release testing as needed.
• Collaborate with business analysts, developers, product owners, DevOps teams, and stakeholders.
• Engage in Agile ceremonies such as backlog refinement, sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
• Create test plans, test cases, test data, execution results, defect reports, status reports, and quality metrics.
• Assist in Section 508 accessibility testing and document accessibility findings.
• Maintain traceability between requirements, test cases, defects, and test results.
• Facilitate user acceptance testing and manage defect resolution coordination.
• Participate in release readiness and stage gate activities.
• Communicate testing risks, blockers, defects, and quality concerns to project leadership.
• Contribute to the continuous enhancement of testing processes, templates, automation, and quality assurance practices.
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field is highly preferred.
• Over three years of experience in Information Technology focused on software testing or quality assurance activities.
• Experience in developing and executing comprehensive test plans, test cases, test scripts, and test data.
• Proven track record in documenting test results and defects while tracking issues until resolution.
• Experience in testing web-based applications throughout the software development life cycle.
• Proficient in conducting functional, integration, system, regression, smoke, and release testing.
• Familiarity with validating requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria while maintaining requirements-to-test traceability.
• Experience in supporting user acceptance testing and collaborating with business stakeholders.
• Knowledge of test automation tools and automated regression testing.
• Background in supporting Section 508 accessibility testing and remediation validation.
• Understanding of performance testing concepts and tools.
• Proficient with JIRA or similar Agile lifecycle and defect tracking tools.
• Well-versed in formal software development life cycle and quality assurance processes.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and communication abilities.
• Capacity to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and adhere to release deadlines.
• Attention to detail with the ability to identify, reproduce, and effectively communicate software defects.
• Ability to collaborate efficiently with developers, business analysts, project managers, and customer stakeholders.
• Preferred: experience supporting FDA or other federal government programs.
• Preferred: experience testing FDA applications, public-facing websites, or regulated digital solutions.
• Preferred: familiarity with JIRA and FDA development, testing, or release processes.
• Preferred: knowledge of Section 508 accessibility standards and accessibility testing tools.
