This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Design, enhance, integrate, test, and maintain software for a designated USCIS ICAM workstream.
• Create application components utilizing Java, Spring, Hibernate, Angular, and MySQL.
• Daily commit code to the sanctioned USCIS enterprise repository.
• Engage in source-control branching, peer reviews, merging, and release management practices.
• Develop and uphold unit tests and automated test coverage.
• Collaborate with test engineers to address defects and confirm release readiness.
• Assist in the execution of CI/CD pipelines and ensure zero-downtime deployments.
• Write code that complies with security, quality, performance, and Section 508 standards.
• Facilitate integrations between ICAM applications and internal or external systems.
• Diagnose application, integration, configuration, data, and performance issues.
• Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 incident support for the assigned applications.
• Engage in root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and after-action activities.
• Draft or maintain user stories, technical documentation, system design materials, and operational procedures.
• Take part in Agile ceremonies, backlog refinement, sprint planning, demonstrations, and retrospectives.
• Develop, integrate, test, deploy, and support software within a designated USCIS ICAM workstream.
• Maintain unit and automated testing coverage while participating in secure CI/CD deployments.
• Assist in production troubleshooting following code deployment.
• Practical software development experience with Java.
• Familiarity with Spring or Spring Boot.
• Knowledge of Hibernate or similar Java persistence frameworks.
• Experience with Angular or comparable modern JavaScript frameworks.
• Proficiency in working with relational databases like MySQL.
• Experience with Git-based source control and routine code commits.
• Background in developing and maintaining unit or automated tests.
• Experience in an Agile development setting.
• Involvement in CI/CD software delivery processes.
• Capability to troubleshoot application and integration issues in both non-production and production environments.
• Ability to provide Tier 2 or Tier 3 technical support.
• Eligible to obtain and maintain favorable USCIS EOD, suitability, and necessary system access.
• Prior experience in DHS, USCIS, or federal civilian software engineering (preferred).
• Familiarity with ICAM, IAM, SSO, OAuth/OIDC, PKI, PAM, account management, or access control applications (preferred).
• Experience with GitHub Enterprise, Jenkins, SonarQube, Selenium, Nexus, Jira, and Confluence (preferred).
• Knowledge of AWS, Azure, Docker, EKS, or hybrid-cloud environments (preferred).
• Experience with zero-downtime deployments, stateless microservices, and production DevOps support (preferred).
• Background in developing Section 508-compliant applications (preferred).
• Familiarity with secure coding practices and remediation of static or dynamic security vulnerabilities (preferred).
