Software Engineering Technical Leader

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.

📋 Description

• Establish the technical vision and lead the strategy for the organization’s C++ testing framework.

• Shape the processes by which engineers build, test, and deploy software.

• Create reusable testing frameworks, libraries, and tools for developers.

• Minimize duplication and enhance engineering quality across various teams.

• Incorporate quality gates within CI/CD pipelines.

• Offer rapid, actionable feedback and pinpoint issues prior to production releases.

• Develop platforms that reveal test coverage, trends in flaky tests, and metrics regarding pipeline health.

• Facilitate data-driven decisions within engineering.

• Mentor engineers and sway technical decisions across different teams.

• Disseminate testing knowledge, advocate for engineering standards, and foster alignment without formal authority.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of professional software engineering experience.

• Proficient in C++ at an expert level.

• Experience with Python or similar languages for creating developer tools, automation, and test infrastructure.

• Proven track record in designing and maintaining reusable test frameworks or developer tools utilized by multiple engineering teams.

• Expertise in C++ testing and mocking frameworks such as GoogleTest, Google Mock, Catch2, or similar technologies.

• Skilled in build systems and dependency management tools, including Bazel, CMake, or equivalent technologies.

• Experience in integrating automated testing and developer tools into contemporary delivery workflows.

• Familiar with Kubernetes, containerized environments, and microservices architectures.

• Knowledge of cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure.

• Strong debugging and problem-solving abilities.

• Proficient in utilizing observability and diagnostic tools.

• In-depth understanding of software design principles for testability, encompassing dependency injection, interface design, deterministic testing, isolation, and automation standards.

• History of influencing engineering standards and facilitating technical adoption across teams.

• Effective communication skills with technical partners.

• Preferred: experience in building shared testing infrastructure or internal developer platforms.

• Preferred: experience in modernizing testing frameworks for large-scale C++ applications.

• Preferred: experience in developing automation, developer tools, or CI/CD workflows using Python or other scripting languages.

• Preferred: experience in creating multi-language developer platforms that support C++, Python, Go, or Java.

• Preferred: experience in designing SDKs, libraries, or testing infrastructure across various programming languages.

• Preferred: experience with distributed systems, networking, or high-performance software.

• Preferred: experience in creating quality platforms, dashboards, or engineering metrics.

• Preferred: experience with contract testing, flaky test management, or automated quality tools.
