Software Engineering Manager – UCaaS

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Lead a team of senior software and infrastructure engineers to ensure the performance, reliability, and advancement of our UCaaS voice platform.

• Collaborate with Product Management to establish objectives, prioritize tasks, and convert strategy into actionable execution.

• Oversee the planning and delivery of new features and services while upholding operational excellence.

• Mentor and nurture engineers through regular one-on-one meetings, performance evaluations, and structured development plans.

• Facilitate sprint ceremonies, status updates, and execution workflows that foster clarity and accountability.

• Advocate for best practices in infrastructure as code, reproducibility, automation, and observability.

• Remain hands-on by guiding architectural decisions and assisting with complex troubleshooting as necessary.

• Enhance monitoring, alerting, and system visibility across our VoIP infrastructure.

• Guarantee that the voice infrastructure is highly available, scalable, and resilient.

• Assist with escalated technical issues and engage in an on-call rotation (approximately one week per month).

• Lead a high-performing remote team that values trust, ownership, and effective communication.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in software, infrastructure, SRE, or platform engineering.

• Demonstrated leadership skills and initiative.

• Proven ability to manage a remote-working team.

• Highly organized and detail-oriented.

• Experience in a Linux or UNIX-like environment.

• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools, such as Ansible or Docker.

• Knowledge of relational databases, specifically MySQL or PostgreSQL.

• Proficiency in version control systems using Git.

• Experience with observability stacks, such as Grafana, Loki, Prometheus, Datadog, or Nagios.

• Fluency in English and strong writing capabilities.

• Additional skills that are beneficial but not mandatory:

• Experience with cloud infrastructure like AWS or OpenStack.

• Proficiency in VoIP (SIP, RTP, and other real-time communication protocols).

• Familiarity with telephony platforms such as FreeSWITCH, OpenSIPS, Kamailio, or Asterisk.

• Experience with programming languages such as PHP or Lua.
