Software Engineering Manager – UCaaS

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Oversee senior software and infrastructure engineers tasked with ensuring the performance, reliability, and advancement of our UCaaS voice platform.

• Collaborate with Product Management to establish objectives, prioritize initiatives, and convert strategies into actionable steps.

• Direct the planning and implementation of new features and services while upholding operational excellence.

• Mentor and develop engineers through regular one-on-one meetings, performance evaluations, and structured career development plans.

• Facilitate sprint ceremonies, status updates, and execution processes that foster clarity and accountability.

• Advocate for best practices in infrastructure as code, reproducibility, automation, and observability.

• Remain actively involved by guiding architectural choices and assisting with complex troubleshooting when necessary.

• Enhance monitoring, alerting, and system visibility within our VoIP ecosystem.

• Ensure the voice infrastructure is highly available, scalable, and resilient.

• Address escalated technical issues and engage in an on-call rotation (approximately one week each month).

• Lead a high-performing remote team built on trust, ownership, and effective communication.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in software, infrastructure, SRE, or platform engineering.

• Demonstrated leadership skills and initiative.

• Capability to lead a remote work team effectively.

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Experience in a Linux or UNIX-like environment.

• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools, such as Ansible or Docker.

• Proficient in relational databases like MySQL or PostgreSQL.

• Experience with version control systems, specifically Git.

• Knowledge of or experience with observability stacks, such as Grafana, Loki, Prometheus, Datadog, or Nagios.

• Fluent in English with strong written communication skills.

• Additional skills that would be advantageous, but not mandatory:

• Experience with cloud infrastructure solutions such as AWS or OpenStack.

• Proficiency in VoIP technologies (SIP, RTP, and other real-time communication protocols).

• Familiarity with telephony platforms like FreeSWITCH, OpenSIPS, Kamailio, or Asterisk.

• Experience with programming languages, such as PHP or Lua.
