Software Engineering Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Take charge of your team's delivery, health, and growth — overseeing planning, execution, and shipping across one or more teams.

• Recruit, develop, and retain engineering talent; conduct 1:1 meetings, manage performance, and facilitate career development.

• Establish and elevate engineering standards, processes, and methodologies.

• Provide technical guidance and rigorously evaluate decisions without resorting to micromanagement.

• Collaborate with product, design, and leadership; manage relationships both upward and across the organization.

• Ensure operational excellence at the team level, including incident management and on-call responsibilities.

⛳️ Requirements

• 8–12 years of overall engineering experience, including at least 3 years in direct engineering leadership (people management) — responsible for a team's delivery, growth, and performance, rather than purely tech-lead or IC seniority.

• Proven history of hiring, developing, and retaining engineers, resulting in positive retention and team health outcomes.

• Ownership of delivery across one or more teams and strong cross-functional collaboration with PM, design, and leadership.

• A solid engineering foundation equivalent to that of a Staff Engineer: guiding architecture and technical direction across multiple services or teams.

• In-depth knowledge of distributed systems and cloud-native architecture; maintaining engineering judgment while in a management role.

• Demonstrated influence on technical direction across multiple teams, including migrations/modernization, reliability/performance, and engineering standards.

• A degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related engineering field is preferred but not mandatory — we prioritize work outcomes above all.
