Software Engineering Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Lead an agile API engineering team consisting of approximately 6–10 engineers.

• Provide direct line management, mentorship, guidance, and performance evaluation.

• Oversee technical design and implementation within designated product domains.

• Ensure compliance with architectural standards and alignment with business goals.

• Collaborate with agile teams, domain experts, architects, engineering practices, scrum masters, and product owners.

• Coordinate observability and operational support for production infrastructure.

• Maintain system reliability and performance.

• Review engineering outputs for quality, completeness, and adherence to best practices.

• Offer occasional out-of-hours support for systems owned by the team.

• Empower the team to deliver features quickly while fostering a positive engineering culture.

• Report to the Head of API Platforms.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in software engineering and technology development.

• More than 3 years of experience leading engineering teams in an agile, product-focused environment.

• Proven track record of delivering cloud-native solutions, continuous delivery, and modern back-end architectures, including event-driven systems.

• Strong hands-on expertise in Java, Node.js, AWS services (Lambda, SNS, SQS, IAM, DynamoDB), GraphQL, and Postman.

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code, automation, and CI/CD pipelines using Terraform and GitLab CI.

• Familiarity with HashiCorp Vault, Nomad, Kong API Gateway, and Datadog.

• Solid understanding of application security, performance optimization, caching technologies such as Redis, and test automation.

• Knowledge of solution architecture, emerging technologies, and industry trends.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

• Strong collaboration, relationship-building, and influencing abilities.

• Analytical and strategic mindset capable of leading change, solving complex problems, and driving actionable outcomes.
