This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of software engineers, nurturing a culture of ownership, collaboration, and ongoing enhancement.
• Establish technical direction and oversee the architecture, design, and delivery of scalable, dependable systems that support the Comfrt eCommerce experience.
• Collaborate with product, design, and data teams to outline roadmaps, define project scopes, and convert business objectives into actionable engineering plans.
• Oversee team execution, including sprint planning, prioritization, and the timely delivery of high-quality features.
• Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, performance evaluations, and career development planning to facilitate each engineer’s advancement.
• Create and maintain engineering best practices for code quality, testing, code review, documentation, and observability.
• Manage technical hiring for the team, encompassing sourcing, interviewing, and onboarding new engineers.
• Promote operational excellence by enhancing system performance, reliability, and incident response strategies.
• Eliminate obstacles and protect the team from distractions while keeping stakeholders updated on progress and potential risks.
• Balance hands-on technical contributions with leadership duties, remaining engaged with the codebase and crucial technical decisions.
• Over 7 years of professional software engineering experience, including a minimum of 2 years in a management or team leader role.
• A proven history of leading, mentoring, and developing high-performing engineering teams.
• Strong technical expertise with hands-on experience in building and scaling web and backend systems.
• Familiarity with modern web technologies and architectures within high-traffic eCommerce or direct-to-consumer settings.
• Comprehensive understanding of software architecture, system design, APIs, and cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, GCP).
• Demonstrated capability to deliver complex projects punctually while juggling competing priorities.
• Exceptional communication and stakeholder management abilities, with experience collaborating across product, design, and data.
• Experience in establishing engineering best practices, encompassing code review, testing, CI/CD, and observability.
• Knowledge of agile development methodologies and contemporary team workflows.
• Strong leadership skills in people management, coaching, performance evaluation, and career progression.
• Experience in hiring and cultivating diverse, inclusive engineering teams.
• A proactive attitude towards action, ownership, and continuous improvement.
• Experience working closely with QA engineers to define testing strategies, triage issues, and ensure quality throughout the release cycle.
• Experience collaborating with UI/UX designers to convert product designs into polished, accessible, and user-friendly interfaces.
