This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +3 more states.
• Oversee the Communications, Data & Industrial business sectors by delivering design services and project cost estimation for construction and significant upgrades to essential infrastructure components.
• Create and execute design engineering and estimating methodologies, along with work management frameworks that are repeatable, scalable, and conducive to favorable client outcomes.
• Ensure Estimators apply best practices, standards, and protocols to accurately assess the cost of services or products.
• Supervise, mentor, and cultivate estimating resources to guarantee the precise and consistent tracking and delivery of project estimates.
• Formulate and implement a strategic pricing strategy in partnership with Service Operations and Sales leadership.
• Develop, manage, and maintain estimating tools.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure the cost structure remains up-to-date.
• Establish and uphold cost history for all project scopes.
• Provide guidance and support in identifying risks and formulating mitigation strategies for project proposals.
• Lead the creation of comprehensive installation specifications that align with client standards and requirements.
• Serve as a Subject Matter Expert on client playbooks.
• Create procedures to ensure that only the most current versions of client playbooks and requirements are referenced.
• Analyze standards, construction drawings, project plans, and site survey data to gain a comprehensive understanding of projects.
• Assess project bids and estimates for accuracy and address cost discrepancies.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings and/or site visits to confirm necessary take-offs.
• Engage with clients during bid-walks and through conference calls.
• Simplify and present technical and complex information to various stakeholders.
• Foster a positive work environment by providing leadership, guidance, mentorship, and motivation to team members.
• Build, develop, and lead a successful team through effective performance management, recruitment, training, and retention.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work/military experience.
• At least 7 years of experience in Project Management, Estimating, Electrical Design, and Construction Program Management.
• Minimum of 3 years in a leadership role.
• At least 2 years of experience in DC Power and infrastructure Engineering within a Telco Carrier Central Office or equivalent Broadband Headend or Hub environment.
• Preferred: Three years of experience in Customer Relationship Management.
• Proven experience in understanding system requirements and interfaces, defining system architecture, and collaborating with customers to create, clarify, and review requirements.
• Strong background in Project Estimating.
• Demonstrated ability to proactively prioritize, plan, schedule, and coordinate tasks.
• Capability to solve complex problems effectively.
• Proficient MS Office skills, particularly with Excel and PowerPoint.
• Strong presentation skills.
• Ability to communicate and present information effectively to all organizational levels.
• Proven experience in developing best practices and processes for construction project cost estimating.
• Previous experience in creating installation specifications.
• Experience in developing and reviewing detailed Scopes of Work and installation procedures.
• Knowledge of Mechanical and Electrical Systems, HVAC, Central Plant, Transformer Voltage Substation, Power Distribution Layout, UPS (Uninterruptible Power Systems), emergency/standby generation and UPS systems, electrical heat tracing, interconnecting wiring, batteries, PDUs, transfer switches, chargers, other power quality instruments, and grounding.
• Must possess knowledge of building load calculations, refrigeration cycles, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and instrumentation.
• Strong understanding of industry best practices for various data center design elements (facility design, room readiness requirements, pre-occupancy requirements) and environmental support infrastructure requirements (architectural, electrical).
