Software Engineering Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Take responsibility for the daily well-being of your teams.

• Assist engineers in cultivating effective daily practices, enhancing communication, and advancing their skills, transitioning from solely coding to effectively directing AI.

• Collaborate with product and design teams to swiftly transition from identifying "critical customer issues" to delivering "functional software," prioritizing quick iterations over resolving every uncertainty upfront.

• Work alongside senior engineers on technical strategy, code architecture, and systems thinking.

• Establish a high standard of excellence and lead by example, particularly in how you and your team integrate AI tools and re-evaluate your workflows.

• Remain actively involved by conducting spikes, prototyping, and exploring concepts that your team may not have the time to pursue, without engaging in critical-path tasks.

• Mentor engineers on incorporating AI as an integral part of their development process: knowing when to trust the AI output, when to discard it, and how to uphold code quality while the machine handles the typing.

• Empower them with skills rather than completing tasks on their behalf.

• Encourage your team to question their assumptions about the software development process.

• Foster an environment where engineers consider the entire problem, not just the coding aspect: recognizing customer requirements, understanding system dynamics, and ensuring reliable software operation in production.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience managing software engineers on teams that develop full-stack web applications.

• Significant hands-on experience utilizing AI development tools in your own projects, rather than merely advising your team to use them.

• Must be able to work remotely within the Eastern, Central, or Mountain time zones.

• Must be eligible to work in the United States.
