This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +33 more states.
• Oversee a team of software engineers focused on ActBlue’s comprehensive authentication and authorization framework, facilitating smooth login and navigation throughout our product suite while ensuring top-tier security, maintaining donor and entity trust, expanding our express universe, and modernizing our technology stack.
• Foster the professional growth of your direct reports by providing supportive and constructive feedback, setting goals, conducting regular check-ins, and performing performance evaluations.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and UX leads to develop roadmaps that align with our strategic organizational objectives, working together consistently to achieve these goals.
• Establish and nurture strong relationships with cross-functional stakeholders (including internal operational teams, security and platform engineering, CX, Sales, etc.) to ensure alignment on product direction, gather domain expertise, and effectively communicate progress and risks.
• Guarantee that your team meets their roadmap commitments and achieves the desired strategic outcomes of their efforts in a high-stakes, regulated environment where accuracy and reliability are paramount.
• Empower your team to learn rapidly while continuously delivering value by prioritizing the frequent delivery of small work iterations.
• Promote essential communication among teams to ensure timely, high-quality outcomes that advance organizational goals. Tackle obstacles and proactively escalate issues as needed.
• Consistently equip your team with the context and resources necessary to accomplish their objectives.
• Collaborate with other engineering department leaders to foster a work environment where everyone can excel.
• Guide technical decision-making with a focus on security, maintainability, scalability, and performance, ensuring that complex workflows adhere to best practices, software development methodologies, and coding standards.
• Supervise the complete software development lifecycle while advocating for a user-centric approach to iterating and enhancing product features.
• Encourage robust and transparent communication channels both internally and with cross-functional stakeholders across the organization.
• People management experience: 3-5+ years of experience in supporting a team of individual contributors at various levels, nurturing their professional growth, and improving team performance.
• Experience in developing user-centric engineering products.
• Expertise and ingenuity in delivering value swiftly, focusing on MVPs, frequent deployments, scope negotiations, and demonstrations.
• Experience in assisting teams in optimizing their collaboration and results through regular feedback loops, retrospectives, experimentation, and iterative processes.
• Strong knowledge of and experience with industry best practices for managing software development, especially agile methodologies and roles/responsibilities.
• Strong leadership capabilities with a proven ability to build trust and consensus among teams and stakeholders.
• Excellent communication skills with a team-oriented and remote-reliant approach to discussions and collaboration.
• Demonstrated commitment to inclusion, diversity, and promoting a strong sense of belonging within teams.
• Experience in providing project management and organizational support for complex technical projects from inception to completion, delivering timely and effective results.
• A proven track record in recruiting, retaining, and developing engineering teams.
