This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Utilize cutting-edge AI technologies to improve performance, automate processes, and enable data-driven decision-making throughout systems.
• Remain updated on advancements in AI and assess opportunities to implement them in addressing intricate engineering and business challenges.
• Develop and enhance data infrastructure that underpins AI and machine learning workflows, guaranteeing scalable and high-quality data accessibility for advanced analytics and modeling.
• As a hands-on manager, you will oversee both technical (50%) and managerial (50%) responsibilities.
• Uphold a value-oriented and business-driven perspective in project prioritization and resource allocation.
• Collaborate efficiently with teams and key stakeholders, including Product Management, Product UX Design, Infrastructure, Business, and other engineering teams.
• Offer technical guidance to software engineers, ensuring timely and high-quality design and implementation of applications and business logic.
• Partner with the application security and compliance team to ensure applications meet standards such as HIPAA.
• Create architectural documentation using technical design documents.
• Facilitate and enable problem identification and resolution in both technical and functional aspects.
• Advocate for change, particularly regarding engineering best practices, developer experience, and process enhancements.
• Promote quality practices early in the development process through activities such as unit testing.
• Establish and sustain effective communication and working relationships with cross-functional teams.
• Review the work of fellow engineers in a constructive manner to foster growth and enhance quality and engineering methodologies.
• Manage people responsibilities, including conducting 1:1 meetings, providing feedback, encouraging personal development, setting goals, and planning for career advancement.
• Assist with production issues and lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) initiatives.
• Over 5 years of experience in leading engineering teams.
• 8 to 11 years of professional experience in software engineering.
• Proven experience in leading consumer-facing engineering teams.
• Proficient in full stack software development with a Java backend.
• Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Previous experience as a lead engineer in a scrum environment.
• Strong skills in Java programming with the Spring Boot framework, algorithmic thinking, data structures, Restful APIs, and system architecture.
• Basic knowledge of AWS or other cloud infrastructures.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams including product, marketing, partners, and security.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
• BS/MS in Computer Science or a related field.
