Software Engineer – Safety & Certification Tooling

πŸ“‹ Description

β€’ Design, develop, and implement the tools that ensure our SIL-4 code remains classified, reviewed, and verifiably signed off.

β€’ Create lightweight web applications and reports that effectively communicate our safety posture to engineers and auditors.

β€’ Oversee and enhance our Bazel build system, collaborating with team members to maintain its speed, reliability, and user-friendliness.

β€’ Refine and enhance developer workflows, including support for build, lint, code coverage, and testing for C++, Python, and Go languages.

β€’ Work closely with software engineering teams to identify and execute improvements in the continuous integration (CI) system, leveraging AWS and Buildkite.

β€’ Develop, deploy, and maintain automation tools to simplify common developer workflows, such as change submission, integration testing, and dependency management.

β€’ Design and implement basic monitoring services to assess the performance and stability of internal processes and systems.

β€’ Engage in the team's support and on-call rotation, addressing issues and ensuring the health of shared developer infrastructure.


⛳️ Requirements

β€’ Proven experience in software development within a regulated or safety-critical environment.

β€’ Practical knowledge of certification evidence requirements, including traceability, tool qualification, and maintaining an auditable record of review and approval.

β€’ Experience integrating static analysis tools or coding standards enforcement (such as MISRA, Parasoft, Coverity, clang-tidy) into the CI pipeline.

β€’ Strong understanding of build systems and tools involved in the software development lifecycle, including git, linting, GitHub, code review, testing frameworks, and deployment frameworks. Direct experience with Bazel is a notable advantage.

β€’ In-depth knowledge of CI/CD best practices and principles, with additional points for direct experience with Buildkite.

β€’ Familiarity with front-end web development technologies (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or a modern framework) sufficient to create and maintain simple internal tools and dashboards.

β€’ Experience in developing tools and services using Python or Go.

β€’ Proficiency with Linux operating systems in both development and operational contexts.

β€’ Understanding of AWS or similar cloud platforms.

β€’ Familiarity with on-call support processes, incident management, and monitoring tools.
