Software Engineer, Platform – Developer Experience

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop and implement tools to facilitate efficient and seamless development, testing, and production packaging.

• Take the lead in designing and building release tools that allow code changes to be deployed to production in under 10 minutes.

• Continuously improve the developer experience by leveraging both qualitative and quantitative feedback.

• Establish feedback mechanisms that incorporate quality into the software development process.

• Advocate for effective engineering and operational practices throughout the Engineering organization.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to tackle issues in engineering workflows that affect developer satisfaction and efficiency.

• Partner closely with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to ensure Benchling is a fantastic environment for software development.

• Contribute to the rapid scaling of our product and team. As part of the engineering team, your role will be crucial in enhancing our tooling, best practices, engineering processes, and recruitment efforts.

⛳️ Requirements

• Possess over 7 years of experience in software engineering.

• Have more than 5 years of experience with containerized applications (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.) in a production setting.

• Approach software development with a product-centric mindset, delivering code swiftly and considering its real-world implications.

• Demonstrate expertise in at least one web framework, preferably Node.js or Python.

• Exhibit strong problem-solving skills and the ability to iterate based on feedback.

• Take pride in ownership and the development of essential product components.

• Show empathy for customers and a genuine curiosity about their challenges.

• Be eager to learn more about life sciences (previous knowledge is not necessary; a desire to learn is essential).

• Communicate clearly and effectively, particularly in cross-functional environments.
