Software Engineer, L6 – Compute Runtime

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Provide compute platform capabilities and promote usage throughout Netflix.

• Design, implement, and take ownership of scalable, extensible Cloud Compute infrastructure.

• Facilitate the efficient and reliable operation of containers on compute nodes.

• Create and sustain Kubernetes data plane software, along with the container runtime, container downloading and execution systems, and the foundational operating system for compute nodes.

• Foster robust cross-functional collaborations with engineering teams and other stakeholders.

• Exemplify operational excellence within the team and the Compute division.

• Continuously enhance incident response, on-call, and operational methodologies.

• Observe industry trends and influence decisions regarding the adoption of new architectures, features, and off-the-shelf services.

• Engage with and contribute to the open-source ecosystem.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in architecting and implementing large-scale distributed systems that modify infrastructure at a scale of 100M+ users.

• Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities, coupled with a strong aptitude for relationship-building.

• Enthusiasm for technology and the capability to navigate ambiguous areas while deconstructing complex problems.

• Proven technical leadership that empowers the surrounding team and maximizes the contributions of diverse stakeholders.

• Practical experience with Kubernetes and an understanding of how to simplify its complexities.

• Proficiency in Golang, Java, and/or Python.

• Capacity to excel in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while effectively managing multiple priorities.

• Ability to balance accuracy, speed, and uncertainty in decision-making processes.

• Skill in executing strategically in the short term while maintaining a long-term perspective.

• Competence in defining and self-managing cross-functional projects driven by ambiguous questions.
