This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +5 more states.
• Develop and implement Voice and Video capabilities utilizing Android SDKs.
• Take charge of the architecture, implementation, technical direction, technical backlog, and architectural roadmap for Android SDKs.
• Lead the development and upkeep of Android Voice and Video SDKs, which include WebRTC, ReSiprocate, and C++ layers.
• Ensure build pipeline stability and engage in CI/CD migration initiatives.
• Establish Android best practices and offer Android-specific guidance throughout the organization.
• Collaborate with iOS, JavaScript, and React Native SDK teams for cross-platform integration.
• Perform code reviews to maintain quality, accuracy, and test coverage.
• Work with product and platform leads to assess feasibility, estimate workload, and fulfill roadmap commitments.
• Contribute to knowledge sharing and maintain documentation.
• Adapt to the changing Android ecosystem to enhance engineering efficiency.
• Improve automated testing and code coverage.
• Manage the developer experience for customers.
• Oversee and prioritize customer and Git repository issues.
• Upgrade Twilio Voice and Video Android reference applications.
• Occasionally travel for project or team in-person meetings.
• Over 10 years of software engineering experience with a strong emphasis on Android development.
• Extensive knowledge of the Android ecosystem and SDK development.
• Experience with real-time communication technologies such as WebRTC, SIP, and RTP is highly preferred.
• Proficient in Java/Kotlin and C++.
• Familiarity with CI/CD systems like CircleCI, Buildkite, and GitHub Actions, along with mobile build pipelines.
• Excellent communication skills to convey technical decisions and trade-offs to both engineering and non-engineering audiences.
• Capability to work cross-functionally and influence without direct authority.
• Experience in mentoring engineers and fostering a collaborative team environment.
• Familiarity with Claude and GitHub Copilot.
• Experience with ReSiprocate or other SIP stacks is preferred.
• Prior experience with public-facing developer SDKs is advantageous.
• Knowledge of supply chain security practices for mobile SDKs is desired.
• Experience with Argo CD is preferable.
