Posted Jul 31
This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• We are looking for a forward-deployed software engineer to take on the technical ownership of our growth platform, the software that converts a visitor on curative.com into a committed group.
• You will operate at the intersection of engineering, marketing, and sales, working closely with those who utilize the software rather than being isolated from them.
• You will participate in the marketing team’s planning meetings, gaining insights into which campaigns are struggling and which pages require enhancements, and you will implement fixes within the same week.
• The same collaborative approach will apply to the sales and underwriting teams at the opposite end of the funnel.
• You will be responsible for monitoring key metrics: traffic, conversion rates by source and page, form completion rates, quote turnaround times, and win rates.
• A significant aspect of the role involves developing AI agents and automations to reduce the workload for team members.
• You will serve as the sole technical point of accountability for these services.
• You will collaborate with marketing, sales, and product stakeholders to transform their workflows into deployed software, define the architectural direction, oversee production, and represent the platform in cross-team discussions.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in shipping production software, enough experience to recognize subpar code even before articulating the reasons.
• Proficient in Python and TypeScript. You should not only be able to read it but also be fluent in both languages. You will be directing work in Next.js and React at the top of the funnel, as well as FastAPI and SQLAlchemy at the bottom. You should be equally comfortable with typed codebases and older JavaScript ones.
• Experience managing a real public-facing website, including server-side rendering and static generation, CDN and caching behaviors, Core Web Vitals, SEO essentials, correctly implemented redirects, and accessibility. You understand why a marketing site presents different engineering challenges compared to an internal application and can demonstrate this through experience.
• Strong grasp of SQL and relational database principles. You can analyze a query plan, identify an N+1 issue, recognize when a migration poses risks at scale, and carefully reason about the joins and aggregations that determine final numerical outcomes.
• Familiarity with analytics and experimentation. You have set up a funnel, trusted data enough to make decisions based on it, and have learned from past mistakes due to poor instrumentation. You understand the capabilities and limitations of A/B testing and do not base decisions on a week’s worth of erratic data.
• A focus on correctness. You have created systems where outputs must be accurate, instinctively seeking out checks, invariants, and audit trails to validate that numbers are correct rather than merely plausible. You understand that “close enough” is not sufficient.
• Strong systems thinking skills. You can illustrate a service’s architecture on a whiteboard, identify potential failure points, and analyze the impact of failures, including those that might be visible to the public within seconds.
• Experience with production cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or similar). You have been on-call for real systems.
• Ability to engage directly with non-technical stakeholders. You can lead a 30-minute working session with a marketer or a sales representative, extract genuine requirements, and ensure they feel understood rather than overwhelmed. You are equally comfortable discussing campaign performance and schema design.
• Appreciation for product and design. You will be delivering products that customers will interact with. You should care about their appearance and usability and be able to have meaningful discussions with designers or brand leads.
• A genuine interest in growth as a field. While a marketing background isn’t mandatory, you should be sincerely interested in understanding demand generation, identifying leaks, and the satisfaction derived from improving a funnel measurably.
• Strong written communication skills. You will spend more time drafting prompts, specifications, and PR descriptions than writing code.
• Curative Health Plan (100% employer-covered medical premiums for you and 50% coverage for dependents on the base plan.)
• $0 copays and $0 deductibles (with completion of our Baseline Visit)
• Preventive and primary care included
• Mental health support (Rula, Televero, Two Chairs, Recovery Unplugged)
• One-on-one care navigation
• Chronic condition programs (diabetes, weight, hypertension)
• Maternity and family planning support
• 24/7/365 Curative Telehealth
• Pharmacy benefits
• Comprehensive dental and vision coverage
• Employer-provided life and disability coverage with additional supplemental options
• Flexible spending accounts
• Generous PTO policy plus 11 paid annual company holidays
• 401K available for full-time employees
• Generous up to 8–12 weeks paid parental leave, depending on role eligibility.
