Software Engineer, Kernel and BIOS

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Hungary.

📋 Description

• Stay updated with the latest advancements in the Linux Kernel and incorporate them for internal development as well as the foundation for Arista EOS.

• Enhance and create new kernel features that align with functional requirements.

• Collaborate with the kernel community to facilitate the integration of features upstream.

• Oversee CPU subsystems on Arista products.

• Assess new CPUs and partner with CPU/BIOS vendors to incorporate their stacks into EOS.

• Initiate and validate CPU/BIOS components within hardware products.

• Introduce new software functionalities, troubleshoot issues, and optimize code for scalability and performance.

• Manage projects from definition to deployment, including interactions with customers.

• Ensure the quality of the software delivered.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering.

• Over 5 years of experience in C or C++ and Python programming.

• Practical experience with Linux Kernel software is advantageous.

• Familiarity with IP networking and/or distributed systems is a plus.

• Applied knowledge of software engineering principles.

• Strong problem-solving and software troubleshooting capabilities.

• Ability to devise and successfully implement solutions.
