This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +30 more states.
β’ Take initiative to develop and sustain tools that enable communities to recognize, address, and avert various types of abuse within Wikimedia projects.
β’ Design systems that prioritize user privacy while identifying behavioral patterns that may suggest abusive actions, aiming to reduce false positives and uphold user anonymity.
β’ Continuously refine abuse detection and mitigation approaches in line with evolving browser privacy regulations, networking protocols, and platform architecture.
β’ Work collaboratively with product managers, designers, and researchers to develop comprehensive, user-centered solutions that strike a balance between safety and freedom.
β’ Create robust, maintainable systems and high-quality code with an emphasis on long-term sustainability.
β’ Implement monitoring to ensure high-quality standards and system reliability.
β’ Measure and evaluate the effectiveness of anti-abuse initiatives across Wikimedia projects.
β’ Over 1 year of relevant professional experience
β’ Experience in building and maintaining large-scale applications
β’ Proficiency in PHP, Javascript, or similar programming languages
β’ Expertise in relational databases
β’ Solid understanding of security principles
β’ Experience in leading cross-team objectives
