This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.
• Develop and maintain shared libraries that serve as essential resources for engineers throughout the organization, facilitating data access, messaging, service communication, observability, and resilience.
• Create APIs that are widely adopted — your interfaces should be compelling enough that teams prefer them over creating their own; this entails providing thoughtful defaults, clean abstractions, backward compatibility, and comprehensive documentation.
• Construct multi-cloud abstractions that enable services to operate seamlessly across various cloud providers and on-premise environments without relying on vendor-specific code.
• Design and implement resilience patterns — such as retries, circuit breakers, load shedding, and graceful degradation — as reusable components that become standard for every service.
• Develop platform capabilities — including feature management, traffic control, disaster recovery, and sharding, as modular libraries.
• Take responsibility for the security posture of shared dependencies — ensure foundational libraries are up-to-date, address vulnerabilities, and deliver secure defaults.
• Engage in architectural governance — propose, review, and guide RFCs that influence the direction of the services ecosystem.
• Advocate and provide consultation — serve as a trusted advisor to engineering teams utilizing shared libraries; assist them in making sound architectural decisions, resolving integration challenges, and relaying their needs back to the platform.
• Collaborate with Data Services, Infrastructure, SRE, and Observability teams — your libraries operate on their platforms; cultivate strong working relationships to ensure shared libraries remain aligned with operational realities.
• Manage what you create — participate in on-call rotations, handle production triage, and leverage operational insights to enhance the libraries.
• Proficient in Go — you have experience building production libraries or frameworks, or possess extensive knowledge in designing APIs and abstractions used by other engineering teams.
• In-depth understanding of distributed systems — hands-on experience with message brokers, data stores, service communication frameworks, and the failure modes associated with distributed architectures.
• Sensibility in library and API design — you comprehend backward compatibility, versioning, migration paths, and what constitutes an appealing API for developers.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure — substantial experience with at least one major cloud provider, preferably including multi-region or multi-cloud strategies.
• Operational maturity — you have taken ownership of production reliability for systems you have developed, resolved incidents under pressure, and transformed those experiences into enhancements.
• 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with significant time spent in platform, infrastructure, or developer tools.
• Demonstrated experience utilizing AI technologies to improve decision-making, streamline workflows and processes, enhance efficiency, and drive business outcomes.
• Industry-leading compensation and equity awards.
• Extensive physical and mental wellness programs.
• Competitive vacation time and holidays for relaxation.
• Paid parental and adoption leave.
• Opportunities for professional development available to all employees, regardless of their level or role.
• Employee Networks, local neighborhood groups, and volunteer opportunities to foster connections.
• A vibrant office culture equipped with world-class amenities.
• Great Place to Work Certified™ globally.
