Software Engineer II, Ruby

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Develop and sustain product features, taking full ownership from the initial discussion to deployment.

• Collaborate with Product and other stakeholders to outline and refine the scope of new features.

• Contribute to the maintenance, stability, performance, and developer experience of the application.

• Write and uphold tests for regular production deployments.

• Investigate, debug, and resolve issues to maintain system stability as the product scales.

• Respond to monitoring insights to ensure the application remains efficient and reliable.

• Participate in code reviews and team discussions.

• Learn from senior engineers while enhancing skills in a collaborative setting.

• Work on Stora’s Rails-based operating platform for self-storage businesses, which includes customer-facing features and internal tools.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 3 years of professional software development experience, with at least 2 years using Ruby on Rails.

• Strong understanding of Rails and its ecosystem, encompassing ActiveRecord, background jobs, and the request/response cycle.

• Capable of working independently on well-defined tasks while effectively collaborating with the broader team.

• Comfortable working across the stack, including JavaScript and CSS as necessary.

• Familiarity with writing tests using Minitest, RSpec, or similar frameworks.

• Proficient in debugging and troubleshooting production issues.

• Strong communication skills, able to clearly discuss technical challenges, trade-offs, and blockers.

• Enthusiastic about working within a small, dynamic product team alongside experienced engineers.

• Candidates must reside in either the United Kingdom or the European Union.
