Software Engineer – Financial Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Develop, operate, and enhance scalable Scio data pipelines on Google Cloud Platform that accurately and reliably process high-volume financial data.

• Create and improve Java backend services that facilitate integrations within Spotify's financial ecosystem.

• Design and refine data models and datasets that support accounting, reconciliation, financial reporting, and operational insights.

• Build and enhance connections with external financial systems to incorporate crucial financial data into Spotify's financial ecosystem.

• Collaborate closely with Finance, Product, and Engineering teams to convert accounting requirements into dependable, scalable technical solutions.

• Enhance the scalability, observability, and resilience of financial data pipelines and backend services.

• Contribute to engineering best practices through continuous delivery, automated testing, monitoring, and careful code reviews.

• Influence technical decisions that enhance the long-term maintainability of Spotify's financial engineering platform.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 3 years of professional experience in developing backend systems and data-intensive applications.

• Proficient in Scala or Java and familiar with at least one distributed data processing framework such as Scio, Apache Beam, Spark, or Flink.

• Skilled in designing and building reliable backend services and scalable data pipelines that support essential business workflows.

• Experience in designing data models that facilitate accurate, high-volume financial processes.

• Familiarity with workflow orchestration platforms like Flyte, Airflow, or similar technologies.

• Strong commitment to engineering fundamentals, including continuous delivery, automated testing, monitoring, and producing high-quality production code.

• Enjoy working with cross-functional teams and converting complex business needs into elegant technical solutions.

• Experience in financial, accounting, or other regulated data fields is advantageous.

• A Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or a related discipline is a plus.
