Software Engineer – Enterprise Experience, Backend

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom, +2 more countries.

📋 Description

• Develop features from inception to completion, transitioning from design within the team's established framework to production deployment.

• Create database migrations in accordance with established patterns for schema compatibility and safe upgrades.

• Implement observability, reporting, and auditing features for system administrators.

• Design features that ensure security for enterprise deployments.

• Analyze and address scalability challenges under production-like conditions, including database access patterns and concurrency issues in Coder.

• Troubleshoot backend issues reported by Coder operators and administrators.

• Document features for reviewers and future engineers.

• Engage in code reviews and RFC-style design discussions.

• Participate in the on-call rotation.

• Collaborate with product and design teams to address operator challenges.

• Deliver features from design to production.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of professional software engineering experience.

• Proven experience in writing and deploying applications using Go.

• Strong understanding of Go's concurrency model, including goroutines, channels, and the sync package.

• Proficient in SQL, schema modifications, and writing migrations.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to identify blockers and uncertainties early on.

• Strong debugging abilities and the determination to resolve issues effectively.

• Experience in analyzing performance under real-world loads, including debugging race conditions (bonus).

• Familiarity with observability, auditing, or security features in enterprise applications (bonus).

• Experience with major cloud service providers, Kubernetes, and container orchestration (bonus).

• Experience in building or managing distributed systems at a significant scale (bonus).
