Software Engineer – Core Trading

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop Alpaca's algorithmic trading platform.

• Design and structure the platform to ensure high quality and performance.

• Write significant amounts of code for both frontend and backend systems.

• Make key decisions to provide the best possible customer experience.

• Work with databases, distributed systems, CPU-level hardware, concurrency systems, high-availability architecture, and object-oriented data modeling.

• Contribute within a challenging early-stage startup environment.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven, experienced software engineer with preferred leadership experience.

• Proficiency in both low-level and high-level programming languages, particularly Go and C/C++.

• Expertise in low latency and high throughput optimization.

• Familiarity with messaging queues and message brokers.

• Strong analytical and data-driven mindset.

• Understanding of algorithms, distributed systems, scalability, high availability, databases, low latency systems, and concurrency control.

• Experience with highly scalable distributed low latency systems.

• System design expertise, including object-oriented data modeling, service-oriented architectures, and system abstraction.

• Experience in algorithmic trading, whether professional or personal, is a plus.

• Familiarity with the development and implementation of Order Management Systems (OMS) and Risk Management Systems (RMS) is a plus.

• Knowledge of the FIX protocol is a plus.

• Experience with trading or exchange systems is a plus.

• Familiarity with observability, tracing, continuous profiling, and benchmarking is a plus.

• Understanding of financial markets is a plus.

• Experience with financial ledgers is a plus.

• Skills in statistical and quantitative analysis are a plus.

• Experience with major cloud platforms, primarily GCP, is a plus.

• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes is a plus.
