This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +1 more state.
• Design, develop, deploy, analyze, and uphold scalable, distributed, enterprise software solutions that facilitate the recording and consumption of telemetry data.
• Construct and manage backend components utilizing C++ within a Linux environment.
• Emphasize enhancements in reliability, performance, scalability, testability, maintainability, observability, and overall developer experience.
• Collaborate with various teams at Cisco to comprehend the data requirements and requests of both our customers and the organization.
• Distributed Systems: Proven experience in analyzing, scaling, troubleshooting, and debugging distributed systems.
• C++ Development: Proficiency in software development using C++11 or newer versions.
• CI/CD & Containerization: Familiarity with establishing CI/CD pipelines (GitLab or GitHub) and deploying applications through containerization and Kubernetes.
• Database Management: Skilled in designing and querying relational databases using SQL (PostgreSQL or MySQL).
• Development Lifecycle: Experience with automated testing frameworks and LLM-based coding assistants throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Programming experience in Rust, Scala, and Python.
• Familiarity with observability tools such as OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, and Grafana.
• Experience with feature flagging tools like Launch Darkly.
• Background in maintaining database software.
• Experience or a willingness to work in an agile environment (Scrum, Kanban, etc.).
• Ability to articulate the distinctions between 'prompt engineering', 'context engineering', and 'agentic engineering'.
