This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take ownership of production features from start to finish within Soccer Services and the Learning Center, covering discovery, implementation, testing, release, monitoring, and iteration.
• Develop reusable platform components, including user-interface elements, service patterns, content models, templates, and workflow structures.
• Provide experiences for learners and administrators, such as dashboards, course modules, video reviews, assessment and certification processes, renewals, progress tracking, clinic logistics, and administrative tools.
• Transform complex requirements related to profiles, organizations, registrations, credentials, eligibility, documents, and approvals into maintainable software solutions.
• Create responsive and accessible interfaces in line with U.S. Soccer’s design standards.
• Build and maintain backend services, APIs, data models, and integrations across identity, content, learning, membership, analytics, and third-party systems.
• Collaborate with product, design, content and curriculum, data, and operational experts to outline requirements, acceptance criteria, and measurable results.
• Ensure security, privacy, role-based access, auditability, and data integrity are upheld.
• Enhance automated testing, performance, scalability, resilience, and observability.
• Monitor production health, troubleshoot incidents, and implement sustainable fixes.
• Engage in code and architecture reviews, technical planning, estimation, documentation, and release practices.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering or a related field.
• Over 3 years of professional experience in building and operating production web applications.
• Proven ability to deliver features across both frontend and backend systems.
• Proficient in HTML, CSS, and modern JavaScript or TypeScript.
• Experience with at least one server-side programming language.
• Familiarity with designing, consuming, and troubleshooting web APIs.
• Experience in working with relational databases.
• Strong grasp of maintainable software design, automated testing, version control, code review, and CI/CD practices.
• Background in developing secure, privacy-conscious, responsive, and accessible digital experiences.
• Capacity to diagnose issues across application code, integrations, infrastructure, logs, metrics, and user-reported behaviors.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Experience using Jira and Microsoft 365.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment while managing competing priorities.
• General knowledge of soccer and its ecosystem, or a demonstrated eagerness to learn quickly.
• Proficient in Microsoft Suite: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
• Desired skills include: Go, PHP/Laravel, JavaScript/TypeScript, Sanity or another headless CMS, PostgreSQL, Auth0/OIDC.
• Desired experience with AWS, containers, Kubernetes, CDN/edge services, and modern observability techniques.
• Desired knowledge of CQRS, event sourcing, JSON Patch or similar partial-update standards.
• Desired experience in learning-management, education, certification, membership, eligibility, compliance, document-review, or multi-role workflow products.
• Desired familiarity with design systems, WCAG 2.1 AA standards, media-rich experiences, and low-bandwidth or older-device contexts.
• Proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
