Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Collaborating as part of a distributed team in a dynamic setting, pinpointing opportunities to create meaningful improvements to lawyer workflows.

• Designing, architecting, and executing new features within the Spellbook application.

• Leveraging the latest large language models (LLMs) from OpenAI, Anthropic, and other providers to enhance application functionality, such as offering review suggestions to help our customers refine their documents.

• Partnering with our product management team to implement changes in our React application aimed at enhancing customer experience.

• Enhancing application functionality by refining our Express and tRPC based API.

• Boosting the performance and reliability of existing features and addressing user feedback through bug fixes.

• Constructing and maintaining application infrastructure on Amazon Web Services (AWS) using the AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK).

• Performing code reviews and offering constructive feedback to team members.

• Additional responsibilities as necessary.

• You possess over 5 years of experience in Software Development.

• You demonstrate exceptional communication skills, capable of articulating and advocating your ideas to a diverse audience.

• You can transform a product feature from a vague concept to a demo beta implementation, ultimately delivering a production-ready feature for customers.

• You are a self-motivated problem-solver driven by curiosity and a desire to assist others in achieving success, with a focus on continuous improvement.

• You work well in a team setting and are dedicated to contributing to Spellbook's success. When issues arise, you are eager and equipped to help resolve them, consistently seeking ways to enhance the team's overall work.

• You have a solid understanding of the core principles of software development and computer engineering.

• You can distill complex and ambiguous customer requirements into clear, actionable plans to expedite the delivery of product features.

• Nice to Haves:

• - Familiarity with TypeScript.

• - Experience with JavaScript build tools such as Vite, esbuild, and swc.

• - Background in small startup environments.

• - Experience in designing and building infrastructure on AWS using CDK.

• - Proven track record of driving new and innovative product features from concept to production.

• - Demonstrated experience working with LLMs, enhancing prompts, and orchestrating agents.
