This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Analyze, design, develop, and implement software solutions for new applications as well as modifications to existing platform components.
• Engage in all phases of the agency's enterprise performance life cycle and create necessary lifecycle artifacts for each release.
• Execute software fixes and minor enhancements, totaling under 200 hours, related to the operations and maintenance backlog.
• Develop and modify code in Java, PL/SQL, application programming interfaces, and user interface components.
• Conduct unit and integration testing, assist with regression and Section 508 accessibility testing, and address defects identified during testing or in production.
• Prepare release packages and facilitate coordinated major, minor, and emergency releases in collaboration with government data center and cloud teams.
• Work in conjunction with business analysts, database specialists, and quality assurance analysts to ensure the delivered software aligns with documented requirements.
• Monitor and report defects using the government-approved defect tracking application.
• A bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related technical field; alternatively, an additional two years of pertinent software development experience may replace the degree requirement.
• At least 3 years of professional software development experience.
• Practical development experience in Java, including familiarity with a modern Java Development Kit and an enterprise Java framework.
• Experience in developing and utilizing RESTful application programming interfaces.
• Proficiency in writing and executing unit and integration tests, along with remediating defects through a structured defect tracking process.
• Foundational knowledge of relational databases and SQL or PL/SQL.
• Capability to obtain and maintain a Moderate Risk (Tier 2) Public Trust background investigation and a government PIV credential.
• Familiarity with Oracle WebLogic, Spring Boot, Hibernate, or Jakarta EE.
• Front-end development experience with Angular, PrimeFaces, or PrimeNG.
• Experience with Apache Kafka, Apache Solr, or Apache PDFBox.
• Previous federal software development experience adhering to a formal lifecycle governance process.
• Awareness of Appian or another low-code business process management platform.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
