This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Consistently and swiftly develop and deploy exceptional software by:
• - Gaining a thorough understanding of our customers and their requirements
• - Crafting elegant and practical solutions
• - Iterating and refining your work to align with Buildout Quality standards
• Collaborate within our milestone-driven feature development framework, assisting your team lead in breaking down large projects into well-defined, estimable components to ensure work commences with a clear plan and allows multiple engineers to contribute simultaneously
• Partner with your team's Product Manager and UX Designer to guarantee alignment and a consistently excellent user experience
• Aid your team in upholding Buildout Quality by conducting thorough and prompt code reviews, collaborating on challenging issues to share knowledge and foster accountability, and delivering outstanding software on schedule to set a positive example
• Establish and accomplish Buildout-sponsored personal and professional goals alongside your team lead
• Several years of product software development experience in a SaaS environment, or the ability to demonstrate significant learning in a shorter time frame to still be an effective engineer and valuable team member
• You leverage AI as a force multiplier throughout the software development lifecycle
• You communicate effectively across engineering, product, and design, enjoying collaborative problem-solving.
• Technical skills:
• - Ruby/Rails: As a Ruby-focused organization at Buildout, a deep understanding of Rails will enable you to acclimate quickly. Our application incorporates all the standard Rails features you appreciate, along with additional tools for design, business logic, and background jobs. If you are eager to learn new skills, you'll fit in exceptionally well.
• - JavaScript/React: Our front-end is built using React for all new projects, alongside a mature codebase with legacy JavaScript that we are actively modernizing. We seek individuals with a strong JavaScript foundation who are eager to explore and work with the latest tools.
• - Testing: Is testing an integral part of your workflow? If so, you will be valued here. We are investing in our test suite (RSpec and Jest, with expanding Playwright end-to-end coverage) and providing ample team resources to ensure that everything we develop is thoroughly tested and robust.
• - Other web technologies: We utilize git for source control, Slim for our view templates, lightly customized Bootstrap for our CSS, MySQL, and AWS. If you have a strong passion for any new technology, we would love to hear about it.
